ACES - "Anyone Can Enjoy Scrolling"

ACES is a program to introduce scrolling to any group. It can be used as a program at a variety of meetings and presented to any group. This program is available to everyone.

Opportunity Grant Program.

The Opportunity Grant program is designed to promote activities within a Local Chapter that will enhance the groups scrolling knowledge. A couple of ways that this could be accomplished are:

  1. The Local Chapter hires a Guest speaker/demonstrator to give a scrollsaw related program to the entire Chapter.
  2. A member of the Local Chapter attends a scrollsaw related class and returns to the Chapter and presents a program/demonstration of the material learned in the class.

The Opportunity Grant Program can help provide this by partially funding the above activities. The amount of the grant awarded to the Local Chapter will depend entirely on the amount of funds available. Each Local Chapter is eligible for one grant per year. Details of the program and an application blank can be found in the Members section of the SAW web site.

All contributions to this program are 100% tax-deductible. Contributions to this program can be made by clicking on the button below. All donations will be specifically used for this program. Please help us to help.

Patrick Spielman Memorial Scholarship program

Applicants must be high school seniors or graduates, age 24 and under, (US and Canadian residents only) who plan to enroll, or students who are already enrolled in a full time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two or four year college, university, or vocational-technical school. Details of the program and an application blank can be found in the Members section of the SAW web site. Or request an application be sent to you by writing to SAW at:

SAW Scholarship
PO BOX 340
116 East Lynn St
Botkins, OH 45306

Canadian Students Only - The applications are to be done in English. You can attend school in Canada or the US . The scholarship checks are in US dollars. In previous years Canadian recipients have had to pay tax on scholarship awards. The Canadian government is trying to eliminate that tax. We are in constant communication with Canada about this. Hopefully the elimination of this tax will be granted.

Each applicant must be sponsored by a SAW member. The sponsor must be in good standing with SAW (membership must be valid and not lapsed). If a Local Chapter is sponsoring the applicant, a SAW member from that chapter should be utilized as the individual sponsor.

Eligible educational disciplines include, but are not limited to:

bulletart
bulletdesign
bullettoolmaking
bulletmechanical engineering
bulleteducation (teacher preparation)

Only the first 25 applications will be considered. Financial need will not be considered. Awards are for one year only. Recipients are not eligible to reapply. Awards are for undergraduate study only. Applications must be postmarked by March 15, 2007.

Up to two awards of $1000 each will be granted. Award money is sent to the educational institution.

How You Can Help  - This program is envisioned to provide funds for a college scholarship. The number and amount of scholarships to be granted will depend on the amount of funds available. All donations given in this way to this program are 100% tax-deductible. Contributions to this program can be made by clicking on the button below. All donations will be specifically used for this program.  Please help us to help.

If you would like something a little more tangible and still help the scholarship funds - you can now order a Baseball cap, with a Scrolling saying embroidered on it which are being made specifically for the Scholarship program. See pictures and order by clicking here. Donations given thru the purchase of a cap are not tax deductible.
