is a concern at the Scrollsaw Association of the World. The SAW website
at www.saw-online.com does not collect any personal data when you visit
our site except when you supply data needed in ordering SAW products,
services, or memberships. General Web Site Access Logs
Web server access logs for
www.saw-online.com are kept at our
commercial Internet
Service Provider. These logs contain the IP address of your computer or
proxy server,
the date and time of the visit, the pages accessed, and other
miscellaneous access information. This information can not be used to
personally identify you. SAW
uses this information to track web site statistics used in normal
maintenance activities. This is general industry practice.
Links from SAW: Please be aware that
non-SAW web sites accessed through our site may collect personally
identifiable
information about you. The information practices of those third-party
web
sites linked to www.saw-online.com are not covered by this privacy
statement.
You should note the privacy policy on those individual sites before
giving them access to any personal information.
On-Line SAW Ordering
The SAW online order forms are designed to protect the privacy of
your
credit card information, name, address, E-mail and any other information
you provide to us. We are committed to data security with
respect to information collected on our site. We offer the industry
standard security measures available through your browser called SSL
encryption. Since we utilize Pay Pal for our online payment processing,
you may want to take a look at Pay Pal's full privacy statement
here. You can see a
brief version from Pay Pal here. You may always contact the SAW office via the telephone at
the number below if you feel uncomfortable with on-line commerce.
Information regarding you (such as name, address and phone number)
or your order and the products you purchase will not be given or
sold to any outside organization for its use in marketing or
solicitation without your consent. Please read the mail list policy
in the current annual SAW Resource Directory for more information about
this policy. Your information may
be shared with agents or contractors of SAW for the purpose of performing services for our organization. If
this is the case, the agents or contractors will be bound by SAW policy.

SAW Chapter Information
The SAW web site provides data about the
local chapter organizations including information on chapter officers.
This information includes name, address, telephone numbers, email and
other information relating to chapter organization. This information is
available through the public web site for all to see. Any chapter
official who wants this information deleted from the web site should
contact the SAW office.
All E-mail addresses on the SAW site
All E-mail addresses displayed on the SAW
web site have been encrypted to prevent robot programs from searching
thru the site and gathering up E-mail addresses. These E-mail addresses
are "clickable" if you have a web based E-mail client to send mail from
(i.e. Yahoo, MSN, etc.) If you do not use that type of E-mail client,
you will have to hold your mouse over the E-mail address and then make
note of the actual E-mail address displayed in the status bar at the
bottom of your screen. The code there is not decipherable to these robot programs,
although it will still function as a mailto link. Feedback Forms on the SAW
site
When you fill out a form found on the SAW
web site and click on the Submit button, the program will generate an
E-mail to the address you entered on the form. These are the only
times an E-mail will be sent from .
If you have not filled out a form on the SAW site with your
E-mail address, and yet you receive an E-mail from
,
please discard that E-mail. We are aware that some of the E-mail
addresses on the SAW web site are being spoofed in some spam E-mails. We
have instituted the encryption policy on the SAW web site to prevent any
future farming of E-mail addresses. SAW E-mail
Lists - (Future Feature)
SAW provides email list servers for use by members
and the general scrolling public. Policies for using the lists are
listed
on the SAW web site and are available for public viewing. Lists of
members of these
lists are available only to the subscribers. Only members of the lists
may post
messages to the lists. Subscribers to the lists will be able to
"unsubscribe" at any time.
SAW Forums
SAW is pleased to announce a new website
feature - the SAW Forums. The purpose of this feature is to provide a
more dynamic, community atmosphere through the SAW web site. New
registration is required to use this new feature. You can use your
existing id and password if you wish, but you will have to manually
register yourself into the new forum. Be aware that information posted
in the SAW Forums is readily available to the general public. SAW will
attempt to mask personal information as much as possible, but the safest
course is to post only as much personal information as you are
comfortable with.
Note to AOL users:
If you have posted in a topic or if you
choose to watch a particular topic, you will receive an E-mail
notification when a new post is added to the thread. This is NOT
spam. Our web host has found that some AOL users have marked this type
of E-mail as spam. We strongly suggest that if you are an AOL user, that
you find another E-mail address to receive mail from the Forum. Our web
host has a zero tolerance policy for E-mail spam. We have therefore,
found it necessary to block all AOL E-mail addresses from using the
Forums or face having the entire web site shut down because someone has
reported a normal E-mail as spam to AOL.
SAW Photo Gallery -
(Future Feature)
SAW Photo Gallery will give the scrolling
community a means of displaying photos of their work on the SAW web
site. Registration into the Photo Gallery will work with the SAW Forums,
so that only one registration will be needed. Policies for the Photo
Gallery will be developed as we get closer to implementing this feature. Cookies
SAW does not currently use cookie technology on our public web
site with two exceptions.
 |
Cookies may be used on some private parts
of the site which are not available to the general public. |
 |
SAW uses cookies for registered users of the
SAW Forums bulletin board when logged
in. Virtually ALL bulletin boards use cookie technology to identify
posters. |
Future Development
SAW reserves the right to use password control over some parts of
our web site in the future development of web site content. If we do,
the user will be solely responsible for maintaining the secrecy of
passwords and any other account information. Users should be careful and
responsible whenever they are online. Posting personal information
online that is accessible to the public may mean that you will
receive unsolicited messages from other parties in return. While we
strive to protect your personal information, SAW cannot ensure
or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us, andyou do so at your own risk. SAW reserves the right to modify these policies as needed due to
changes in the use or status of our on-line projects. Changes to the
policies will be noted at this URL and/or in our journal "SAW
Dust". For More Information:
SAW is the sole operator of the SAW website.
