What kind of information can I expect to find in the SAW newsletter:

The newsletter is the primary means for the Association home office to communicate with its members. You will often find a note from the President of the Scrollsaw Association of the World to the members. There is always an article about the Local Chapters and what they are doing.  This is where the first announcements of any new events or activities sponsored by SAW will be made. 

In October you will learn who your candidates are for positions on the Board of Directors. In January, the ballot for electing people to the Board of Directors is printed. You can order T-Shirts and Caps with the SAW logo from the newsletter. Occasionally, you will also find a survey where you can provide feedback to the Board of Directors on issues of interest to the Association.

In addition to news of the Association, you will also find some very useful articles on a variety of subjects:

The newsletter is not filled with an over abundance of advertisers to distract you from your reading.  But a very select group of advertisers are present to offer their wares to all of our members. Sometimes with specials that are only available to SAW members. 

As we grow, we have ambitions of making the newsletter a very credible source of scrolling information. However, that does not mean that it will eventually change into the type of magazine that you are used to seeing. We have no ambitions of competing with any of the established scroll saw magazines in providing patterns primarily. What patterns we provide are a bonus, but they are not the primary purpose of the newsletter.  Most of the patterns that we provide are designed by people who are new to the idea of designing, but want to try and see how their ideas are accepted.  Some are provided by designers who have just a few ideas and do not want to go through the bother of trying to sell their designs, but would prefer to share them with people in this format. A few are provided by some of the nicest people who have been designing for years and want to offer something extra to SAW members, so you will occasionally see patterns with some very well known names on them as designers.
