The
SECRET to winning raffle items at the PA picnic
- "I found a HORSESHOE by the picnic site
stuck in the road about 50 feet from the ravine.
I put it on this old door I found, and cut out
some words." |
These
are some of the projects that Robert entered at
the PA Scrollsaw Contest, June 15, 2002. This 3
panel nativity scene is made from red oak. |

| This
kokopelli scene earned an Honorable Mention. |
This was made from 6 different kinds of wood. white oak, red oak,
pine, maple, cedar, and bamboo. |
This
was made from 1 1/4 inch Poplar which I found on
the job as well as finding the figurines. |
I
call this the family
flag. When my mother past away I went to the
cemetery often. One day when I
got to the plot I saw them putting my mothers
stone down. I went over to
them and asked if I could have the wooden crate
the stone was shipped
in. They said sure, and I made the flag from it.
The big star represents my
mother the other 7 are for me, my wife, and our
5 children |

create the previous portrait |
This
was sold to a lady who did not want the eagle. |
o I
took it home and made a flag stand with USA on it |

This
was a mothers day card I bought for my wife. I
was doing victorian shelf's at the time and when
I saw this card I had to cut it
So I did. I cut. it framed it, and gave it to
her for mothers day |
This
is a business card holder. and if you
look at it you will see a woman putting her
husbands nose to the grind stone. Great theme
for a business cardholder |
This
is an eagle I saw
as someone's logo I liked it so I cut it. |
This
was one of the first inside cut projects I did I
was doing anything USA at the time. Uncle Sam,
Statue of liberty, and flags |

This
was a pattern some guy gave me to
cut for him. I didn't like it but he paid
$50.00 for it. It was cut from a 3ft piece of
pine |
This
is one of many crosses that I cut. I was
thinking about bringing them to craft shows but
I think it would be a bad seller as far as time
it takes to cut and price you have to get for
it. |
For
a while every craft show was asking for south
western. So I made some. Most of these are my
designs. This was my biggest seller at $45.00
the bulls head |
Coming
in second was the welcome sign |

I
did most of the burning with a blow torch, But
as you can see I used a wood burning tool for
the
welcome shelf. |
This
is more south western. The first one is also the
first clock I ever made, the coyote moon. I put
a cactus in the ones I made after this one. The
cactus was part of the moon like the clouds
coming out of the sides. Guess I was doing
segmentation before i knew it existed. The
second one is a combination of two patterns the
first was 2 coyotes howling at the moon and the
second was an indian, sort of flying. So I put
them together and got 2 coyotes howling at a
moon with an indian flying out of that moon. I
think I gold leafed some of it too. The last is
a bulls head. I burn them with a blow torch add
rope to the horns and hang some wooden feathers
on some. The feathers also have a little carving
as does the head it self. |

These
are the two clocks that I have in my apartment.
Did you ever hear "I got the sun in the
morning and the moon at night"? Well that's
what I got. When I get up I have breakfast with
the sun clock in the dining room. At bed time
its the sleeping moon in the bed room. I guess
you can call them segmentation. The sun clock
was an intarsia project. with all 12 sun rays
the grain goes in the direction of each
number. |

One more portrait |
I
made a lot of victorian shelves which I gave to
my family because they didn't sell very well,
and I wasn't going to give them away to any one
but family. They were mostly made of 1/4 in
poplar. The first shelf is just a lot of curves.
The second is bird and reindeer shelf. I like
the shelf's with animals on them. the third
shelf is birds in a cherry tree. The shelves are
hard to sell at craft shows even though everyone
liked them they didn't want to pay much for
them. |
