Winners

Grover Irish did a fantastic job of scrolling and building "Russel's Cathedral". He won a First Place ribbon in the Fretwork Complex Class and then proceeded to win Best In Class - Complex and finally BEST IN SHOW
at the 2001 IL Scrollsaw Contest
Mike Irish should be very proud of his work here, the judges could not find a flaw.  The hand mirror was exquisite and could be placed in any art gallery with pride. Harold Foos is an extraordinary scroller and well deserving of his First Place Ribbon in the Open Complex Class.

Jim Ryan had over 500 individual pieces in this eagle to win First Place in the Intarsia Complex Class. Jim also won the Intarsia Intermediate Class with a Snarling Tiger, but unfortunately my picture didn't turn out. Craig Hamblin took the First Place ribbon in the Fretwork Basic Class and then went on to win
Best in Class - Basic
Ron Cowan's rendition of this Victoria Cross garnered a First Place ribbon in the Fretwork Intermediate Class and then proceeded to win Best In Class - Intermediate Might have been the smallest project entered, but Diana Thompson still won a 1st place in the Open Basic Class with her hummingbird.

3 Generations of Scrolling Hamblin's. Lynn of IL, his brother Craig from MN and their father Virgil from AZ. In front of his father is Tarrin, the newest scroller. Now we know why Al Caldiero does the huge slabs and Moose Antlers....it's actually "Mad Mickey Mouse" controlling his scrolling.
