bullet Q:  Can I get free patterns from SAW?
bullet A:  The Scrollsaw Association of the World does promote patterns, and the authors of such patterns. As part of this promotion, we will from time to time publish a copy of one or two patterns in each issue of "SAW Dust" if they are available. These are available to us to use that one time with the permission of their authors. We are not in the business of creating patterns, so we are dependant upon pattern authors for their availability. If you are a pattern author and would like to donate a pattern to SAW for publication, please contact SAW for further discussion. We do not promote pattern sharing, or illegal copying for either sale or free distribution. This can only hurt the one aspect of the scrolling industry that so many of us are dependent upon.

bullet Q: What is a Local Chapter?
bullet A: A Local Chapter is a woodworking club, specializing in scrollsaw work, which is affiliated with the Scrollsaw Association of the World.  A Loal Chapter can be a unique group, or a smaller subset of a larger woodworking club. Large numbers of members is not necessary for a Local Chapter. A chapter con contain as many or as few members as are available in your area. Where SAW attempts to locate and publish information about resources to be found worldwide, a Local Chapter can strive to do the same on a much smaller region. By contacting local woodworking suppliers and lumber yards, they might be able to get a discount for their members. By working with the leaders of their communities they can promote the art of scrollsawing to their geographic area. Many additional activities can be carried out in a Local area better than in a world wide area. Demonstrations, exhibits, etc. can all be done locally. The sharing of skills, techniques, and knowledge is the biggest benefit in joining with a Local Chapter.

bullet Q: I can't find what I am looking for on this site.
bullet A: Click on the Site Map button above. There you will find a Table of Contents for this entire site. This will help to find areas you might have missed looking at, or point out areas that you hadn't investigated before. Or if you just need to find out how to get from here to there on this site, the site map can solve those problems for you.

bullet Q: What benefits are there to belonging to a Local Chapter of SAW?
bullet A: SAW can do a lot for you, but not as much as a Local Chapter. We can find resources which you can order from, a Local Chapter can find resources you can drive to. They also provide a network of other scrollers in your area where you can obtain help when it is needed. You might find your local hardware stores approaching your Local Chapter looking for people to put on a demonstration in their store, or for their scout group, or for their church, or school. In addition you will meet people you can readily call on for help, or who can call on you for help. You can participate in projects that will help your community directly. For instance, your Local Chapter could undertake the project of providing instructors for a Scout group, or a disabled person. By combining your efforts you could put on a craft show, or a contest, or participate in a competition, decorate a community Christmas tree, assist one or more of your local churches, nursing home, etc. The possibilities are endless, and the gratification is tremendous.
