ARTICLE III - MEMBERS

A. Benefits For Members
It is the intention of this Association to offer:

1. For collectors of scroll sawed objects, education about scrollers and scrolling styles, and an opportunity to communicate directly with scrollers.

2. For hobbyists, students, amateur or part-time scrollers, technical information about wood and scrollsawing tools, machinery, safety tips, and also a vehicle for establishing and maintaining communication among others with similar interests.

3. For professional scrollers, increased awareness of the changing standards of their craft, active promotion of studio scrolling to galleries, collectors, museums and the public.

4. For master craftsmen scrollers, an avenue through which they can both meet and share their techniques and theories with their peers and with others interested in fine scrollsawing; and also, to help promote public interest in collecting fine scrollsawed objects by museums and by other permanent, visible collections.

5. For galleries and other dealers in scrollsawed objects, both a vehicle for notifying scrollers and the interested public of shows or seminars featuring such works, and an outlet for articles, critiques, or discussions on topics of interest to scrollers.

6. For all members, the Association shall publish a periodic publication. The periodic publication shall be a chronicle of issues and events related to the art and craft of scrollsawing. The periodic publication may include but not be limited to: commentary, reviews, interviews, patterns, calendar of events, advertising, and a broad range of topics associated with scrollsawing technique and design.

7. For all members, the Association shall publish and distribute to members a Resource Directory containing but not limited to: a listing of local chapters, an alphabetic and geographic listing of members, business resources, books, videos, instructors, courses, demonstrators, and speakers on the art and craft of scrollsawing.

B. Membership Categories

Membership is open to anyone with an interest in scrollsawing without regard to race, creed, color, religion or natural origin. The Association offers membership in the following categories to both individuals and businesses:
 

INDIVIDUAL

REGULAR (Individuals)
FAMILY (Two people living at the same address)

 
BUSINESS/PROFESSIONAL
 

REGULAR

A schedule of annual fees for each of these categories shall be approved by the Board of Directors and shall be listed on membership applications and kept on file at the corporate office. The Board of Directors may confer such benefits it deems appropriate to individuals and businesses joining in the categories of Supporting, Benefactor or Patron.

The Association also extends special recognition to members who qualify in the following categories:

A CHARTER MEMBER is a Regular or Family member who joined the Association in the calendar year 1998.

A FOUNDING MEMBER is a Supporting, Benefactor, or Patron member who made his/her initial contribution in the calendar year 1998.

The Board of Directors shall, at it's discretion, confer HONORARY and LIFETIME MEMBERSHIP to persons who, in its judgment, have made an extraordinary contribution to the advancement of scrollsawing.

C. Transfer of Membership

Membership in this Association is not transferable or assignable.
